In the Inland Empire, most of us drive alone because campuses and jobs are spread out and public transit often doesn’t fit real routes or times. When driving becomes the only practical option, “one person per car” turns into a habit. That car‑dependency puts more vehicles on the road, raises commuting costs, increases emissions, and adds daily stress. We need a simple, everyday way to share the ride—in one word: carpooling.
Ride Splits makes carpooling easy for students and everyday commuters by helping you set a usual route, match with RideBuddies, and coordinate multi‑stop trips within campus communities or for events. You choose who rides with you and pay securely in the app while drivers receive weekly payouts. It’s a smoother, community‑based way to cut costs, save time, and reduce emissions.
After sign up, save your usual route and times, then the app will use this information to connect you with other people who share your usual routes. Add them as RideBuddies!
Once you have added people as RideBuddies, you can coordinate the details of the ride with them. The app handles multistop navigation so all you need to so is click on start when its time and either wait to be picked up or pick up along your way.
Once you have completed the ride, you can leave a review for the driver or riders. This helps other people know who to trust and who to avoid.
After a couple of rides, if you feel good about your RideBuddy, ask them to be a regular and negotiate weekly or monthly payment plans to reduce costs even more. Note: arranged carpool prices should usually be lower than driving your own car.
Ride Splits is free to download and free to use. Riders can ride without a membership—there’s a 10% platform fee per ride. A $5.99/month rider membership waives the platform fee and includes a backup ride assurance so you still reach your destination if a driver no‑shows (restricted to trips for CSUSB students or faculty traveling from or to the CSUSB San Bernardino or CSUSB Palm Desert campuses). Driver membership is $9.99/month (first month free).
No membership required. Pay the driver’s fare + 10% platform fee per ride. Rider membership ($5.99/mo) waives the platform fee and adds backup ride assurance for CSUSB‑restricted trips.

Our plan is to screen all users over time—because community works best when everyone is accountable.
We’re not competing with a single company—we’re offering a better default than one‑person‑per‑car.
